The Role

  • To facilitate the provision of flexible support and the development of learning opportunities for students with a wide range of learning needs including ASD, ADHD, OCD, visual and hearing impairments, dyslexia, physical needs and dyscalculia.
  • To maintain clear and accurate systems of records in order to review learning needs, set targets in respect of Additional Learning Support and support student progress towards achieving their minimum target grades.
  • To liaise with curriculum staff about how best to support teaching and learning to ensure that an individual student's need and development are met. This may include differentiating material, enlarging resources, reading and note taking.
  • To undertake exam invigilation and facilitate other special arrangements e.g. scribing for examinations.
  • To be aware and supportive of students with medical needs e.g. diabetes, epilepsy and also assist students with mobility issues around the college site and, where required, to provide personal care in line with individual student needs.

The Successful Candidate

Cardinal Newman College is a wonderful place to work, and this is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced candidate to join our friendly and well-established Additional Learning Support department. The Additional Learning Support department is seeking an individual who is educated to Level 3, demonstrates flexibility in undertaking a wide range of tasks, and has the ability to work effectively as part of a team. You should display the values, attitudes, and behaviours consistent with the Catholic Ethos of the College and have a commitment to equality/diversity and the safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults.

Terms and Conditions

  • Hours: 37 hours per week, term time only. Starting and finishing times as agreed.
  • Salary: The post will be paid on the Sixth Form Colleges Support Staff Pay Spine at points 7 to 11- pro rata to £25,951 to £28,634 per annum. Actual Salary £22,692.60 to £25,038.73 per annum.
