We are looking for a Production Manager to join our team at United Caps Dinnington.
Function: Production
Line Manager: Factory Manager
Direct Reports: Production Supervisors, Maintenance Lead, Process Engineer Lead
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
GENERAL – MANAGEMENT
- Manages the division of labour of the production department.
- Ensures that adequate training plans are established for all colleagues.
- Ensures that relevant corrective/preventative actions decided through various meetings, audits, and customer complaints are implemented correctly and within the agreed time frame.
- Ensures that the SOPs and work instructions are followed by teams.
- Ensures that records and documents are properly managed and up to date.
- Supervises colleagues and ensures cleanliness, hygiene, and GMP standards are met.
- Effectively manages Production, Maintenance, and Process staff, including 1-1s, appraisals, return to works, setting objectives, development conversations, social climate KPI reporting, holiday management, and other engagement tasks.
ORGANISATION
- Directly responsible for Production Supervisors and Operatives.
- Participates in the preparation of production planning with logistics.
- Participates in the management review.
- Responsible for communication and implementation of management guidelines.
- Keeps up to date with new technology that can be used in the production process (Continuous improvement).
MANUFACTURING PROCESS
- Responsible for optimisation of production.
- Provides technical support to QA and Plant manager.
- Participates in the selection and implementation of investments.
- Responsible for monitoring and reducing plastic scrap.
- Develops new and improves existing SOPs relevant to the manufacturing process.
PRODUCTION
- Responsible for the overall performance of production.
- Participates in the monitoring of monthly indicators.
- Coordinates tasks/repairs in production with the maintenance and process engineers.
- Responsible for quality of parts produced in accordance with the quality service.
- Participates in the analysis and maintenance of the BRCGS and ISO14001 systems.
- Participates in daily, weekly, and monthly production meetings and implements the decisions made.
- Respects and enforces SOPs regarding approved chemical usage.
- Manages hiring of new production staff with plant manager/HR as required.
MAINTENANCE AND PROCESS
- Overall responsibility for the maintenance and process departments.
- Effectively delegates/prioritises tasks where required.
- Ensures both teams are meeting their objectives.
SAFETY
- Responsible for the safety of all UC colleagues. Takes preventive and corrective measures to avoid all kinds of risks.
- Responsible for fire evacuation of colleagues on site.
Skills you will require:
- Knowledge of Process Management and Quality / Environment Systems.
- Safety/cleanliness/GMP (BRCG product team member – knowledge through training).
- Technical understanding of injection moulding production process would be beneficial.
- Good knowledge of Windows applications.
- Leadership qualities – efficient communication, problem-solving, and decision-making ability.
