About the Role
As a Composites Technician on the McLaren Hypercar Programme, you will produce, repair, finish and maintain carbon components that operate at the highest level of endurance racing. You will work across pre-preg components, structural repairs, laminating, trim/fit and trackside repairs under extreme time pressure. Your workmanship becomes part of a world-class race car — and your standards must match that level.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Completing composite repairs: structural, cosmetic, bonded joints, inserts and crash damage.
- Trimming, drilling, profiling and finishing parts to drawing specification.
- Laminating and repair prep (pre-preg, core materials, adhesives).
- Working closely with mechanics, engineers and build teams to ensure perfect fit and alignment.
- Conducting trackside composite repairs under pressure and on tight turnarounds.
- Managing consumables, materials, traceability and documentation.
- Ensuring components meet safety, dimensional and structural criteria before sign-off.
- Maintaining a clean, controlled environment and correctly handling composite materials.
