Unitech is the leading supplier of high-quality stainless steel and aluminium equipment for the food, beverage, pharmaceutical and other hygiene conscious industries. We have an excellent opportunity that has arisen to recruit for a Machine Shop Operative to complement our existing team.

Please note the hours of work for this role are Monday to Thursday 07:15 a.m. - 16:00 p.m. and Friday 07:15 a.m. to 14:15 p.m.

Role Overview: This role is responsible for the safe and accurate operation of conventional metal cutting machinery. This includes lathes, drillers, millers and saws in the production of stainless steel and aluminium components.

Main duties involved in the role are as follows:

  • Measure completed parts to ensure they are to correct specification.
  • Carry out necessary checks and quality assurance of products as per specifications.
  • Learn to operate any new machining equipment as and when required.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Any other duties commensurate within this position and skill set required.

Skills and Experience:

  • Must be conversant with conventional lathes / millers.
  • Possess a good understanding of engineering drawings.
  • CNC knowledge would be a distinct advantage, however dependant on business needs and requirements training will be provided.
  • Experience in using a Proturn 410 machine would be an advantage.
  • Be able to agree and meet reasonable time scales for the work required.
  • Possess a can do attitude, with the ability to pay attention to detail in all tasks required.
  • Be able to work within a team or on your own.
