What do our Graduate Geotechnical Engineers do?

Our Hastings based Graduate Geotechnical Engineer will be a vital contributor to a range of projects delivering improved outcomes for our community, including essential cyclone recovery works. The Hastings Wastewater Treatment Plant is an example—collaborative design and effective engagement with local tangata whenua created a solution that was environmentally friendly and cost-effective. Our commitment to sustainability shines through in all we do, and we aim to support the environment through our charitable and volunteer efforts too.

Day to day tasks would involve:

  • Working alongside other junior, intermediate and senior geotechnical staff.
  • Assisting with site inspections, field investigations and construction supervision.
  • Producing ground models and geotechnical reports.
  • Geotechnical design and analysis including foundation designs, retaining wall designs, slope assessments, etc.
  • Delivering geotechnical project inputs to the agreed outputs on budget, on time and to agreed quality standards.

What you will bring:

You’ll be as committed as we are to improving the communities we live in. We’re seeking individuals who thrive on thinking outside the box. Your ability to come up with fresh ideas and contribute to practical design solutions will be invaluable. You will have a Qualification in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology with a passion for transportation and infrastructure design.

  • Be a recent graduate or due to complete your studies in 2026.
  • Have a full clean current driving licence.
  • Working Rights: Student Visa (convertible to post study open work visa), Permanent Resident, Citizen.
