The Role
Technology is a big part of what makes our buildings work well. It helps keep people safe, makes everyday life easier and plays a big part in creating a great experience for our residents.
We`re looking for a Property Technology Product Owner to help us make the most of it.
You`ll have a broad portfolio, covering everything from access control, CCTV and life-safety systems to Building Management Systems, IoT and smart-building technology. Your role will be to understand what our buildings, residents and colleagues need, work out where technology can make a real difference, and help shape what we do next.
You`ll work with people across Operations, Estates, Safety, Security, Development, Procurement and Technology, as well as our suppliers and partners. You`ll be the person who brings those different perspectives together, sets priorities and helps turn good ideas into technology that actually works in our buildings.

What You`ll Be Doing
As our Property Technology Product Owner, you`ll help shape the technology that keeps our properties running well and supports a great experience for residents and colleagues. You`ll:

Set the direction for our Property Technology, making sure we`re focusing on the things that matter most to our residents, colleagues and the wider business.

Turn needs into practical solutions, bringing together different requirements and turning them into clear priorities and actions.

Be the go-to technology expert, giving advice and guidance to senior stakeholders and teams across Unite Students.

Look after the technology throughout its lifecycle, spotting when things need to be improved, upgraded, replaced or retired, and balancing this with cost, risk and the value it brings.

Work closely with suppliers and partners, helping us find the right solutions, challenging where needed and making sure we get lasting value from the technology we invest in.

Keep safety, security and reliability at the heart of what we do, working with Technology, Estates, Safety, Security and Operations to continually improve the technology and services in our properties.
What We`re Looking for in You
We`re looking for someone who can bring together technology expertise, commercial thinking and strong people skills. You`ll bring:

Experience managing or advising on complex technology products, platforms or operational systems.

Experience with property, building, security, operational or critical technology.

An understanding of how hardware, software, networks, data and suppliers come together to deliver reliable technology.

Experience shaping technology strategies, roadmaps or product lifecycles.

Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to make complex information easy to understand.

A structured, analytical approach and the confidence to balance priorities and make evidence-based decisions
Experience with access control, CCTV, intercoms, alarms, fire systems, smart buildings, IoT or Building Management Systems would be useful, as would experience working across a large, multi-site environment.
