PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Reporting to the Facilities Team Lead, working as part of a team you will be accountable for providing a well maintained, safe, secure, clean, compliant and efficient environment, delivering high quality planned and reactive maintenance, demonstrating CARE (Connect, Act, Respect and Encourage) in everything you do across a number of estates disciplines.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITES
- Be a brand ambassador and always act with positive intent
- Responsible for providing CARE (Connect, Act, Respect and Encourage) in the provision of a world class student experience to our residents and each other
- Responsible for getting to know and actively listening to our students, directing them to available support whenever it is needed
- Accountable for responsiveness and taking appropriate action on receipt of student feedback and any other maintenance requests from across the business, resolving issues either directly or indirectly and making sure a resolution is found or the issue is escalated in the right amount of time
- Responsible for adhering to Unite policies, procedures and specified and trained ways of working at all times
- Accountable for maintaining a safe environment for everyone, the completion and recording of basic monitoring and compliance where trained to do so, and taking appropriate action in case of incident or emergency
- Accountable for keeping a clean, tidy and well-maintained environment and never walking past a mess without doing something about it
- Responsible for understanding our sustainability strategy, why it matters to us and our stakeholders, and actioning any opportunities the role presents to help achieve our sustainability targets
- Undertaking general maintenance work within properties, including but not limited to:-
- Working with suited locking systems both mechanical and electronic
- Working with windows and door repairs
- Assist with fire alarm activations and false alarms
- Providing Reactive maintenance support (including emergency building works and summer turnaround projects)
- Fault finding and rectifying
- Completing PPM planned inspections and rectifying or reporting any remedial works identified to the relevant competent engineer
- Support as required with PPM activities
- Responding and attending to maintenance and Health and Safety related calls within the required service level agreements
- Logging of maintenance issues through the PDA app

You will benefit by having technical capabilities:
- Basic joinery skills
- Basic plastering, repairing holes in walls etc.
- Basic domestic plumbing skills
- Complete like for like electrical changes including safety isolation and recording of works when complete
- Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
The other stuff -
- The role will be expected to work an 8 hour shift between 7am and 9pm Monday toSunday. On occasion, the team member may be requested to cover absence or sickness, there may be times you ll need to work alone or be available for call out outside of normal working hours.
