The Building Safety Advisor supports teams to ensure our business meets and exceeds its obligations under the Building Safety Act and associated legislation. Operating across development, projects, and operations, you will provide expert advice and leadership on building safety throughout the property lifecycle from design and construction to occupation and maintenance. This is an opportunity to shape how building safety is embedded in a business that builds, refurbishes, owns, and operates its own properties, influencing industry best practice and driving a culture of safety and compliance.
What You'll Be Doing
- Act as the subject matter expert on the Building Safety Act, supporting legislation, and emerging guidance.
- Advise senior leaders and project teams on compliance requirements, ensuring systems and processes meet regulatory standards.
- Lead the development and continual improvement of the Building Safety Management System, Safety Cases, and Safety Case Reports.
- Assist in fulfilling duties of the Accountable Person and Principal Accountable Person, including registration and ongoing compliance.
- Support development teams through Gateway processes, ensuring building safety is embedded from design to completion.
- Advise on refurbishment and major projects (including cladding replacements), ensuring compliance and smooth transition to operational readiness.
- Oversee operational building safety certification and emergency works response.
- Golden Thread Management: Help to maintain accurate, up-to-date digital records of building safety information throughout the building lifecycle.
- Work across multiple functions Development, Projects, Operations, Estates and engage with senior directors to prioritise building safety matters.
- Liaise with regulators, consultants, and industry bodies to maintain best practice and anticipate regulatory changes.
- Ensure clear communication of building safety information to residents, including safety case summaries and emergency procedures.
- Prepare for inspections and audits, ensuring documentation and evidence are complete and accurate.
- Support the development and testing of emergency response plans for building safety incidents.
- Develop and deliver building safety training, competency mapping, and guidance toolkits for internal teams.
What We're Looking for in You
- CIOB Level 6 Diploma in Building Safety Management (or equivalent).
- Membership of an accredited institution (e.g., CIOB, IFE).
- Proven experience in building safety or a similar compliance-focused role.
- Strong knowledge of residential building safety requirements and best practice.
- Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Highly organised, proactive, and adaptable to changing priorities.
- Comfortable with technology and digital compliance systems.
