We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Technical Business Analyst to join our Bristol office on a 12 month basis, to support our Data and Insight team and the wider business by understanding and translating their information needs into detailed requirements.
This role will work closely with multiple teams on some of the high-profile, major tech transformation projects happening within Unite Students this year. They will also be involved in a wide variety of smaller projects from across all areas of the business using sales, operational, university, customer and competitor data.
What You`ll Be Doing
- Gathering requirements and defining user stories for data needs by running workshops with key stakeholders across the business and obtaining their sign-off.
- Producing detailed requirements documentation, creating technical specifications such as raw data specifications and source-to-target mappings.
- Supporting the team to help prioritise and refine the backlog items for each sprint.
- Managing stakeholders on a day-to-day basis, providing updates on the delivery progress of requirements in scope, and once the development work is completed making sure the solution meets expectations.
- Work closely with the Analytics team to ensure the requirements from their stakeholders are fulfilled.
- Working with functional BAs in other areas of the business to provide visibility of all things data, ensuring requirements align for data across the whole portfolio of work.
- Working closely with the Intelligent Business Automation team to help them understand what data for integrations are needed.
- Working with Data Governance to ensure data is mapped and documented to agreed standards at a logical level ensuring that all data lineage, and dictionary items can be traced.
- Raising any potential process improvements, risks, or benefits of the proposed models to the Data & Insight team.
What We`re Looking for in You
- A self-starter with excellent communication skills, able to discuss requirements with stakeholders of all levels.
- The ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Awareness of standard approaches to data processing.
- The ability to query databases (e.g. using SQL, Python) and understand data modelling concepts to a basic level.
- Ability to understand upstream and cross-team dependencies for data flows.
- Strong documentation skills, with the ability to document the requirements so that any other analyst or developer can understand.
- Experience working with teams operating in an Agile (scrum) framework.
