Senior Design Manager – Construction Location: Essex Job type: Permanent Unite People are recruiting a Senior Design Manager to lead the design delivery of a major industrial development in Essex. You will oversee the design process, coordinating consultants and specialist subcontractors to ensure design information meets the project’s technical, commercial and programme requirements. Key responsibilities: * Lead design coordination across architectural, structural, civil and M&E disciplines. * Manage the design programme, ensuring information is issued to support procurement and construction. * Chair design meetings and drive timely resolution of technical issues. * Review proposals for buildability, compliance and opportunities to improve value. * Coordinate specialist subcontractor packages and manage interfaces between disciplines. * Oversee design changes, assessing their impact on cost, programme and delivery. * Work closely with the client and project team through design development, construction and handover. Requirements: * Proven experience as a Design Manager or Senior Design Manager within construction. * Experience delivering industrial, warehouse, logistics or similar large-scale developments. * Strong technical understanding of multidisciplinary design and construction methods. * Ability to lead consultants, challenge proposals constructively and manage competing deadlines. * Good commercial awareness and understanding of design risk. * Relevant construction, engineering or architectural qualification, or equivalent experience.
