The Company
Our client is a well-established civil engineering contractor delivering a wide range of infrastructure projects across the North West. With a strong pipeline of local authority and developer-led schemes, they specialise in highways improvements, Section 278 works, drainage, and public realm upgrades.
Due to continued growth and new project awards in the Greater Manchester region, they are now seeking an experienced Site Agent to join their team on a permanent basis.
The Role
As Site Agent, you will take full responsibility for the safe and efficient delivery of civil engineering works, including highways realignment, junction improvements, and Section 278 schemes. You will manage on-site teams, liaise with the client and local authorities, and ensure that works are delivered to programme, budget, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all day-to-day site operations, ensuring compliance with company procedures and health & safety legislation.
- Lead and coordinate site engineers, foremen, and subcontractors.
- Monitor progress against programme, manage resources, and report on site performance.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and local authorities to resolve technical or logistical issues.
- Ensure quality assurance procedures are followed and all documentation is completed accurately.
- Oversee setting out, materials control, and site inspections.
- Drive high standards of safety, environmental compliance, and workmanship.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Site Agent or Sub Agent on highways and Section 278 schemes.
- Background in civil engineering, ideally from a contractor environment.
- HNC/HND or degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Strong understanding of NEC contracts and local authority specifications.
- Valid SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid qualifications.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
