About the Role
We’re currently recruiting for an experienced Site Agent to join the team delivering the Lune Gorge Structures Renewal Project on the M6 in Cumbria. This is a long-term, high-profile National Highways scheme involving the replacement and refurbishment of eight key bridge structures along a six-mile stretch of the motorway. As Site Agent, you will take a lead role in managing key work sections on site during both enabling and main works phases, ensuring programme, quality, health & safety and environmental standards are delivered to a high standard.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily site operations on designated bridge structures and highway works
- Manage subcontractors, direct labour and suppliers to deliver to programme
- Ensure works are delivered safely, in compliance with CDM and SHEQ policies
- Collaborate closely with the Project Manager, Engineers and Designers
- Maintain detailed records including site diaries, RAMS, ITPs and permits
- Monitor progress against programme and escalate risks early
- Drive a strong safety culture and promote behavioural safety
- Support weekly reporting, audits, client meetings and inspections
Requirements
- HNC / HND / Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Experience delivering highways, structures or bridge replacement schemes
- SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid (minimum)
- Knowledge of temporary works, traffic management and major earthworks preferred
- Comfortable leading site teams and managing complex logistics
- Able to read and interpret drawings, specifications and technical documents
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
