Highways Site Agent / Site Manager – North West & Cumbria Salary: £55,000 – £65,000 depending on experience We are recruiting for an experienced Highways Site Agent / Site Manager to support the delivery of national and local highways framework schemes across the North West and Cumbria. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on highways professional with strong site management experience, a positive approach to health and safety, and the flexibility to support both daytime and night-shift works where required. The Role As Highways Site Agent / Site Manager, you will work closely with Framework Managers and Project Managers to ensure schemes are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards. Your responsibilities will include: * Assisting Framework Managers and Project Managers across national and local highways frameworks * Managing day-to-day site operations, including night-shift handovers where required * Writing, reviewing, and briefing RAMS, Work Package Plans, Task Briefings, and associated site documentation * Creating and managing short-term lookahead programmes, milestones, and resource plans * Promoting and maintaining a strong health and safety culture in line with CDM requirements * Monitoring forecast costs, commercial performance, and assisting with site budget management * Supporting the administration of NEC contracts * Identifying value engineering opportunities and tracking site variations * Ensuring all works are delivered in line with design, specification, and quality requirements * Creating, implementing, and managing Inspection and Test Plans * Maintaining accurate site diaries, progress reports, and daily/weekly briefings * Liaising with clients, local authorities, subcontractors, and key stakeholders to support smooth project delivery and handover The Candidate The successful candidate will have previous experience working in a Site Agent, Site Manager, or similar role within the highways sector. You will ideally have: * Experience delivering highways schemes within local authority or national framework environments * Strong knowledge of CDM regulations and site health and safety procedures * Experience producing and briefing RAMS, WPPs, Task Briefings, and ITPs * Ability to manage site teams, subcontractors, resources, and programme requirements * Commercial awareness, including cost monitoring, variations, and budget support * Working knowledge of NEC contracts * Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders * Flexibility to work or manage night shifts when required * A proactive, organised, and delivery-focused approach Package * Salary: £55,000 – £65,000 depending on experience * 10% car allowance or company van/car. * 3% 0- 6% pension contributions. * Annual profit share bonus once 12 months are completed. * 25 days annual leave including 7 at Christmas. * 8 bank holidays. * North West and Cumbria-based schemes * Opportunity to work on established highways frameworks * Long-term career development within a busy infrastructure environment This role would suit an experienced Highways Site Agent or Site Manager looking for a stable opportunity across framework-led highways works in the North West and Cumbria
