Site Engineer – Highways / Structures – Greater Manchester
Location: Greater Manchester
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum + package (DOE)
About the Role
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Site Engineer to join a leading civil engineering contractor on a major highways and structures project in the Greater Manchester area. This is a permanent opportunity to join a well-established team delivering essential infrastructure improvements in the region. You will play a key role in the day-to-day site engineering activities, supporting the Site Manager and Project Manager in delivering works to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Setting out and surveying for highways and structural works (e.g. bridge decks, retaining walls, culverts, etc.)
- Interpreting drawings and specifications for site implementation
- Managing and coordinating sub-contractors and suppliers on-site
- Maintaining site records, ITPs, and quality control procedures
- Supporting the development of RAMS and ensuring compliance with HSEQ standards
- Working closely with the design and planning teams to resolve technical queries
- Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with programme and budget
Requirements
- HND/Degree in Civil Engineering or similar
- Minimum 2-3 years\’ experience in a Site Engineer role (preferably on highways or structures schemes)
- Proficient in using surveying instruments (Total Station, GPS, AutoCAD etc.)
- Strong understanding of CDM, health and safety requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence
- CSCS Card (essential); SSSTS/SMSTS (desirable)
