This role lies within the IT Operations team and is pivotal in supporting and delivering Unite Students IT infrastructure. The IT Infrastructure team at Unite Students complete the full design, implementation and BAU stages of IT infrastructure. Reporting to the IT Infrastructure manager, this is a hands‑on role in an extremely high performing team, covering a plethora of infrastructure technologies for both day‑to‑day support and maintenance and end‑to‑end project delivery.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Always achieve SLA adherence on infrastructure hosted systems.
  • Act as a point of escalation for Unite Students infrastructure, helping the business to quickly and effectively solve infrastructure related issues.
  • Complete assigned project and work package requirements to time, quality and within Unite Students infrastructure standards.
  • Be the main conduit for initial infrastructure queries coming from other internal teams.
  • Work within an ITIL led environment across all disciplines (Incident / Problem / Change / Capacity Management etc.).
  • Share responsibility for the internal and external IT infrastructure including hosting/operations, availability management, capacity management, backups and disaster recovery/continuity planning.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of infrastructure, service desk and wider IT / business teams, ensuring both designed purpose and operational effectiveness of the infrastructure delivered and/or supported.
  • Quickly understand and support new infrastructure patterns and technology, learning new technical skills where appropriate and watching external trends and opportunities that will benefit Unite Students.

What We’re Looking for in You

  • Experience within a 2nd line enterprise IT infrastructure support/project team.
  • Design and support experience of at least 3 of the following vendors’ products: Microsoft, RedHat, VMware, PaloAlto, SQL, AWS, Azure, On Prem.
