The Role

We’re hiring a Machine Learning Engineer with strong Python software engineering skills and a passion for building AI-powered automation. You’ll play a central role in designing, configuring and deploying Virtual Agents that transform manual workflows into intelligent, scalable systems.

This is a highly hands‑on role where you’ll use modern AI coding tools and agentic frameworks to rapidly prototype, configure and evolve virtual agents that operate in real‑world customer environments. You’ll work closely with customers and internal teams to translate complex processes into robust AI‑driven solutions, while also contributing to the core platform that enables this at scale.

Initially, you’ll support customers directly as AI solutions go live, before helping shape self‑serve capabilities that allow them to deploy and manage their own agents with confidence.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build and optimise Virtual Agents using Python and AI‑assisted coding tools to automate customer workflows.
• Work directly with customers to analyse their processes and translate them into scalable, agent‑driven solutions.
• Develop and enhance our Virtual Agent platform, enabling rapid configuration and deployment of AI agents.
• Leverage LLMs and agentic AI frameworks to build intelligent, adaptive systems.
• Ensure high standards of reliability, observability, scalability and performance across AI services.
• Contribute across the stack, from Python backend engineering through to MLOps and infrastructure integration.
• Continuously improve developer and customer experience by refining tooling, automation workflows and deployment processes.

Qualifications

We’re seeking someone excited by the opportunity to shape the future of AI automation in a mission‑driven, early‑stage environment. You’ll be comfortable taking ownership, experimenting, and using modern AI tooling to accelerate development.

• Have excellent Python software engineering skills and experience building production‑grade systems.
• Are confident using AI coding tools (e.g. Copilot, Cursor, Claude, GPT, etc.) to configure, accelerate and improve development workflows.
• Have experience or a strong interest in building virtual agents or agentic AI systems to automate real‑world processes.
• Are comfortable translating customer problems into scalable technical solutions.
• Have exposure to deploying software using Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure.
• Enjoy collaborating across technical and non‑technical teams.
• Thrive in a fast‑paced environment where ownership and impact are high.

Reporting & Location

This role reports into the VP of Engineering and is open to candidates located within 3 hours of the UK time zone.
