Join to apply for the Forward Deployment Engineer; hybrid pre/post sales role at Unit21.
About Us
At Unit21, we believe that combating financial crime demands a united front. Through our adaptable risk engine and versatile case manager, we identify and proactively mitigate risks related to money laundering, fraud, and other illicit activities. With a simple API and no-code interface, we empower fraud fighters and AML heroes to proactively detect and prevent fraud—without tapping engineering.
This is a remote position. We’re looking for a Senior Forward Deployed Solutions Engineer to support Unit21’s growing customer base across the UK and Europe. This hybrid role blends solution architecture and implementation ownership with select regional pre-sales technical support, enabling customers to deploy and scale Unit21’s AML and Fraud platform successfully. You’ll partner with both Sales and Customer Success — leading technical discovery, designing integrations, overseeing deployments, and ensuring customers extract maximum value from Unit21. You’ll also support key evaluations where deep technical credibility helps shape the solution and bridge the handoff from pre-sales to implementation. This is a London-based role with flexibility for hybrid/remote work and limited travel (up to ~10%).
Key Responsibilities
- Solution Architecture & Implementation (Primary Focus)
- Lead the end-to-end implementation process — from technical discovery and architecture design through data integration, configuration, and go-live.
- Design and document scalable solutions leveraging APIs, ETL pipelines, and data mapping between customer systems and Unit21.
- Translate complex business and compliance requirements into technical architectures for AML and fraud detection workflows.
- Troubleshoot integration and configuration issues to ensure smooth delivery.
- Partner with Customer Success Managers post-launch to optimize performance, build custom workflows, and expand platform adoption.
- Capture and share best practices, reusable templates, and integration patterns to accelerate future deployments.
- Pre-Sales Enablement (Secondary Focus)
- Collaborate with Account Executives to support technical discovery and solution design during evaluations.
- Contribute to tailored demos or Proofs of Concept, ensuring technical continuity into implementation.
- Advise on data architecture, integration strategy, and operational readiness for strategic prospects.
- Serve as a trusted technical voice in customer conversations, helping align product capabilities with business objectives.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Product and Engineering to provide structured feedback on customer needs, new integrations, and roadmap priorities.
- Collaborate with GTM leadership to refine demo environments, onboarding processes, and internal enablement materials.
- Help establish Unit21’s technical foundation and knowledge base for the EMEA region.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in Solutions Engineering, Forward Deployed Engineering, or Implementation roles in SaaS, FinTech, or RegTech.
- Strong technical foundation across:
- APIs (REST, Webhooks, Postman)
- ETL pipelines, data ingestion, and schema mapping
- Relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
Compensation
The standard base pay range for this role is $115,000.00 - $125,000.00 GBP Annually. This base pay range does not include variable compensation including potential commissions, bonuses or other financial or equity incentives.
Benefits
- Competitive salary and pre-IPO stock options
- 100% company-paid medical, dental and vision insurance (for employee)
- Optional HSA and FSA medical reimbursement accounts
- Unlimited paid time off
- Generous leave programs for life events
- 401(k) Charity matching
- One-time Home office set‑up stipend
- Happy hours and team‑building events
- Great office space in the San Francisco Financial District
- Fully stocked kitchen
- Lunch and dinner provided in SF office at least 3× per week
- A great company culture with a strong emphasis on diversity, equity and inclusion
