The Lead Software Engineer will drive the design, development, and deployment of advanced chatbot solutions using UDA, KCT, and SCXML-based workflows. This role blends hands-on engineering with technical leadership, ensuring high-quality delivery, smooth onboarding processes, and robust operational performance across Azure environments. Key Responsibilities
  • Chatbot & Workflow Engineering
    • Design, build, and optimize chatbot workflows using SCXML, ensuring scalable and maintainable state-machine logic.
    • Develop and enhance conversational experiences using UDA (Chatbot) and KCT (Knowledge Curtain Tool).
    • Prepare, structure, and validate SCXML files for deployment and integration.
    • Repurpose and adapt existing scripts to support new features, use cases, and automation needs.
  • Deployment & Platform Ownership
    • Lead deployment activities across Azure environments, ensuring reliability, security, and performance.
    • Manage CI/CD pipelines and version control using Git.
    • Oversee environment configuration, release processes, and production readiness.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Debug and troubleshoot issues in Azure using App Insights, logs, and telemetry.
    • Identify root causes and implement long-term fixes to improve system stability.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth onboarding of new services, features, and team members.
  • Leadership & Collaboration
    • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to engineers across the team.
    • Work closely with product owners, architects, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
    • Champion best practices in coding, testing, documentation, and automation.
You will be successful in this role if you have:
  • Technical Skills
    • Strong experience with UDA – Chatbot frameworks and KCT – Knowledge Curtain Tool.
    • Proficiency in designing and maintaining SCXML-based chatbot workflows.
    • Solid understanding of Azure services, including App Services, App Insights, and related monitoring tools.
    • Experience with JavaScript (or Java scripting environments) for automation and workflow logic.
    • Strong Git knowledge for branching, merging, and release management.
    • Proven ability to debug, diagnose, and resolve issues in distributed cloud environments.
  • Additional Capabilities
    • Experience preparing and validating SCXML files for production.
    • Ability to repurpose scripts and automate repetitive tasks.
    • Strong onboarding skills — able to bring new engineers or stakeholders up to speed quickly.
    • Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-team collaboration abilities.
