Mainframe Developer & Support (OS2200/COBOL)

As part of our Managed Applications Services, we provide day‑to‑day support for applications running in a mission‑critical environment on a 24x7 basis. You will support and develop mainframe Command‑and‑Control services for our client. This role focuses on the mainframe element of the solution, providing day‑to‑day support for existing services and software enhancements. You will be required to attend our client’s site three days per week and participate in an out‑of‑hours on‑call rota to provide 24x7 support.

• Identifying problems and potential resolutions to support end users
• Analyzing and resolving issues relating to interfaces between various system components
• Applying ingenuity and creativity in developing enhancements and new areas of functionality

Key Qualifications:

• COBOL
• Experience of OS2200 Unisys mainframe technology
• DMS (hierarchical database)/RDMS (relational database) database experience
• An understanding of Transaction Processing (TIP/HVTIP) or similar
• Strong technical expertise within a service‑delivery environment and ability to develop solutions without adversely impacting operational effectiveness
• Knowledge of ITIL is advantageous
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate regularly with our client (previous Public Sector experience welcomed)

Important Information:

Candidates must be eligible for, and will be required to obtain and maintain, Counter‑Terrorist Check (CTC) clearance for this role. Eligibility requires continuous residence in the UK for a minimum of three years. This is a mandatory requirement and cannot be waived.
