The Technology Operations Engineer provides on-site technical support across R&D facilities, ensuring reliable infrastructure, stable networks, and smooth workplace technology operations. The role also supports cyber-security readiness and coordinates third-party engineering activity. Software/scripting skills are optional.

You will be successful in this role if you have:
  • Infrastructure & Incident Management
    • Act as the SPOC for infrastructure issues across R&D sites.
    • Triage incidents and route to L2 teams.
    • Maintain physical infrastructure: hardware, cabling, servers, patch panels.
    • Collaborate with Leeds SU Systems Analyst for shared spaces.
  • Network Support
    • Support the Network Team with on-ground troubleshooting, upgrades, and improvement projects.
    • Assist with lab PC hardware/software upgrades and network enhancements.
    • Engage early in new hardware/software project planning.
  • Third-Party Coordination
    • Host and oversee external engineers performing installs, fixes, or maintenance.
  • Cyber-Security & Continuity
    • Support cyber-security initiatives and contribute to cyber incident response and continuity planning.
  • Workplace Technology
    • Manage printers, meeting room tech, digital signage, and desk peripherals.
    • Perform daily operational checks.
    • Triage meeting room issues and manage escalations to third-party suppliers.
  • Event Support
    • Deliver AV and streaming technology support for Town Hall and large-scale events.
Nice-to-Have Skills (Not Essential)
  • Java, JavaScript, XML experience.
  • Knowledge of SiLA standards.
  • Familiarity with Azure Blob Storage and event handling.
  • Understanding of LIMS integration.
