Fólk Recruitment is supporting UNISON, the UK’s leading public services trade union, to appoint someone who will play a central role in ensuring UNISON’s pay and reward framework is fair, sustainable and aligned with organisational values, while remaining realistic within financial constraints.

As the Compensation and Benefits Specialist, you’ll be:

  • Leading a comprehensive review of salary structures, grading and the wider reward framework
  • Delivering robust salary benchmarking and analysing complex pay and benefits data
  • Reviewing equal pay audit outcomes and supporting follow up actions
  • Assessing job evaluation schemes and recommending future improvements
  • Producing clear, evidence based recommendations to support short and long term decision making

We’re looking for a Compensation and Benefits Specialist with:

  • Strong experience in salary benchmarking, human resource, job evaluation or reward strategy, ideally from a trade union, public sector or not for profit context
  • A solid understanding of equal pay legislation, pay gap reporting and employment law
  • Confidence analysing complex financial data and translating it into clear insights
  • Strong communication and report writing skills for technical and non-technical audiences
  • A values led, adaptable approach with the confidence to work independently and collaboratively

You’ll be comfortable engaging with HR colleagues, leadership teams and trade union representatives, building trust and balancing multiple perspectives to deliver meaningful outcomes.
