The role

We are seeking a highly organised and committed Project Leader to support the implementation of recommendations arising from a Race Discrimination Inquiry Report. This is a key role focused on driving meaningful change, improving equality outcomes, and ensuring accountability across the organisation.

Reporting to the AGS Communications, Campaign and Policy. You will work closely with senior leaders, project teams, regions and lay activist to coordinate activity, track progress, and ensure delivery of a structured and effective action plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of projects linked to inquiry recommendations
  • Maintain and monitor detailed project plans, milestones, and reporting frameworks
  • Track progress against actions, ensuring deadlines and objectives are met
  • Coordinate meetings, working groups, and stakeholder engagement activities
  • Prepare reports, briefings, and updates for senior leadership
  • Identify risks, issues, and dependencies, escalating where necessary
  • Ensure accurate documentation and audit trails are maintained
  • Promote inclusive practices and ensure equality considerations are embedded in all project activity

What we're looking for

  • Experience in project coordination, programme support, or change management roles
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to tight deadlines
  • Understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion principles, particularly in relation to race equity
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project tracking tools

This role may be based either at UNISON Centre, London, or at a regional office. Roles based at UNISON Centre, London, attract a London Weighting amount of £7,170 in addition to the advertised salary. Roles based in regional offices do not attract London Weighting and will be paid at the advertised salary only.
