The Role

We are looking for a Technical Sales & Product Specialist to support the Sales Director and wider sales team with the day-to‑day management of technical enquiries, quotations, RFQs and customer opportunities. This role will focus particularly on becoming the product lead for:

  • PHI hydraulic tube bending machinery and related products
  • Tooling enquiries and quotations
  • Opt2Sim Scan software and scanning solutions

Working with an established PHI customer database, our team in California, and a strong pipeline of leads and enquiries, this role requires someone with a good appreciation of engineering processes, technical terminology, and customer requirements. The ability to read and understand engineering drawings is essential. This is a varied position that would suit someone with a blend of engineering understanding, commercial awareness, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as first‑line technical and commercial support for the experienced sales team.
  • Support the Sales Director with RFQs, customer enquiries, quotations, and project updates.
  • Review customer requirements and help prepare accurate, detailed technical quotations.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer documentation.
  • Produce sales, spares, tooling and product quotations in a clear and professional format.
  • Support bids and tenders for complex machine tool enquiries.
  • Work closely with internal departments to gather costs, lead times, technical information and production requirements.
  • Liaise with the PHI team in California regarding products, pricing, technical queries and customer opportunities.
  • Develop product knowledge across PHI machinery, tooling, and Opt2Sim Scan.
  • Maintain accurate records of accounts, quotations, projects, contacts and correspondence within the CRM system.
  • Help identify production processes, tooling costs and suitable alternatives where appropriate.
  • Provide administrative and technical support to help the field sales team remain focused on customer visits and business development.
  • Support exhibitions, customer visits and occasional travel where required.
  • Adopt a flexible approach to workload and take on new responsibilities as the role develops.

About You

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical mindset, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to communicate clearly with both customers and colleagues. You should be comfortable working with technical information and able to manage multiple enquiries at different stages of the sales process.

  • Engineering and commercial mindset.

  • Good understanding of engineering processes and terminology.

  • Flexible and able to adapt in a changing business environment.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working in engineering, manufacturing, machine tools, tooling, technical sales or a similar environment.
  • Experience preparing technical quotations or responding to RFQs.
  • Experience with CRM systems would be strongly advantageous, although training will be provided.
  • Knowledge of tube bending, hydraulic machinery, tooling, CAD/CAM, scanning or manufacturing software would be beneficial.
