About this job

Our public services are under major threat. Our members are working under extreme pressure but actively campaigning for fairer workplaces. We are looking for two local organisers to work in long term projects recruiting new members, motivating them to take an active role in our campaigns, and identifying new activists. The project work allocated to the BSOF role is determined by the lay leadership. The current focus of this work is recruitment and organising in Schools and Multi-Academy Trusts.

The successful candidate will bring their experience and skills in one-to-one communications, recruitment, organising and campaigning. You will be expected to contribute to and meet the targets set. Previous experience as a recruiter, organiser and campaigner within a trade union or community organisation would also be desirable. You will also need to demonstrate and knowledge of trade unionism and our union’s values.

You will need to be prepared to travel within the region as required including to our regional offices in Bury St Edmunds and Chelmsford and to London on an occasional basis for training or other purposes. Public transport links in the Eastern Region are poor. Having access to a car would be beneficial.
