Uniserve is seeking a Maintenance Operative to join our Felixstowe team. Responsible for carrying out day-to-day maintenance, repairs, and inspections across company facilities to ensure they remain safe, functional, and compliant. Working under the direction of the Maintenance Operative Supervisor, the role supports the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance, contributes to the prevention of equipment failure, and helps maintain a safe working environment for all site users.
Key accountabilities:
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance tasks across buildings, plant, and equipment.
- Undertake basic repairs and maintenance work including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and general fabric tasks (within competency).
- Perform routine inspections and report defects, hazards, or potential failures to the Maintenance Operative Supervisor.
- Follow work instructions and maintenance schedules set by the Supervisor.
- Assist with preventative maintenance activities to reduce breakdowns and downtime.
- Support external contractors on site by providing access and ensuring safe working practices.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety regulations and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of completed work, inspections, and materials used.
- Use tools, equipment, and materials safely and correctly.
- Keep work areas clean, safe, and tidy at all times.
- Respond to maintenance call-outs in a timely and professional manner.
Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience in maintenance, facilities, warehouse.
- Able to drive.
- Good practical hands-on maintenance skills.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical and building fabric repairs.
- Good understanding of health & safety and safe working practices.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks to a good standard.
- Good problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
- Reliable, hardworking, and able to work well within a team.
