Uniserve is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Export Seafreight Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in export logistics, particularly in seafreight operations, and a keen understanding of international trade regulations and documentation requirements.
As an Export Seafreight Operator, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end export process, ensuring timely and cost-effective shipment of goods to international destinations.
Key Responsibilities:- Booking and Coordination: Coordinate with clients, carriers, and vendors to book and schedule export shipments via sea freight. Ensure accurate documentation and timely communication throughout the booking process.
- Documentation: Prepare and verify export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and export declarations, in compliance with international trade regulations and customer requirements.
- Customs Compliance: Ensure adherence to customs regulations and procedures for export shipments. Coordinate with customs brokers to facilitate customs clearance and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
- Cargo Tracking: Monitor and track the status of export shipments from origin to destination, providing regular updates to clients and internal stakeholders. Proactively address any delays or disruptions to minimise impact on delivery schedules.
- Rate Negotiation: Negotiate competitive rates with ocean carriers and service providers to optimise freight costs while maintaining service quality and reliability.
- Customer Service: Serve as the primary point of contact for export customers, addressing inquiries, providing shipment status updates, and resolving any issues or concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards. Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with export operations, including regulatory compliance, security, and transportation challenges.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the export operations function. Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance service quality and customer satisfaction.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in export logistics, with a focus on seafreight operations.
- Previous experience within an Ocean Export department.
- Strong knowledge of international trade regulations, INCO terms, and customs procedures.
- Proficiency in export documentation and familiarity with relevant software applications (e.g., MS Office, ERP systems).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
