Uniserve is a leading provider of innovative supply chain solutions, delivering excellence across global logistics. We are seeking to recruit a HGV Class 1 Night Driver to safely and efficiently manage the movement of trailers and vehicles within the yard, ensuring timely positioning to support operational requirements, loading schedules, and customer service delivery.
Salary: £40,800 per annum
Shift: Night shift 4 on 4 off so some weekends will be required.
- Carry out shunting of trailers between parking areas, loading bays, and operational zones
- Ensure all trailer movements are completed in line with site plans and loading schedules
- Position trailers accurately and safely onto loading bays
- Liaise with warehouse and transport teams to ensure priorities are met
- Operate all vehicles in full compliance with road transport and internal safety policies
- Conduct daily vehicle checks (pre-use and defect reporting)
- Ensure coupling and uncoupling procedures are carried out safely
- Maintain high awareness of yard safety, pedestrians, and site traffic systems
- Report all incidents, near misses, and hazards promptly
- Support yard organisation, ensuring trailers are parked in designated areas
- Monitor trailer availability, identifying delays or constraints
- Assist in maintaining yard cleanliness and organisation standards
- Communicate effectively with transport office regarding issues or delays
- Complete all required paperwork or digital records accurately (e.g. keys, trailer ID, checks)
- Update internal systems where required (e.g. trailer status, bay allocation)
- Follow site processes for seal checks and load integrity
Skills & Experience:
- Full HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence
- Valid Driver CPC & Valid Digital Tachograph Card
- App-literate and confident using multiple digital systems
