Unique School Solutions is supporting a large secondary school in the S10 area of Sheffield, looking to appoint a DT Technician across both sites. You will play a vital role in maintaining workshops, preparing resources, and supporting students as they bring their creative designs to life. The role starts ASAP and, for the right person, could lead to a permanent job after 12 weeks.

Key responsibilities
- Material Preparation: Prepare, cut, and distribute timber, metals, plastics, and other materials for daily practical lessons
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain, clean, and sharpen workshop hand tools and large machinery (e.g., band saws, pillar drills, laser cutters, 3D printers)
- Classroom Support: Provide live technical assistance to teachers and students during busy, practical GCSE and A-Level classes
- Health & Safety: Ensure workshop operations comply strictly with health and safety standards, keeping accurate COSHH records and managing waste disposal
- Stock & Resource Management: Track inventory, carry out regular stock checks, and handle procurement of raw materials and new equipment
Essential requirements
- Good practical DIY, manufacturing, or workshop skills
- Experience handling hand tools and materials like wood, metal, or acrylics
- Excellent organisational skills with a methodical approach to sorting resources
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a busy team
- Previous experience working within a school or educational setting
- Familiarity with modern manufacturing technologies such as CAD/CAM, laser cutting, or 3D printing
- Valid Health and Safety training certificate (e.g., DATA / CLEAPSS certification)
