At Unique Care Group (UCG), we do more than provide care — we build trust, confidence, and brighter days for children with learning disabilities. Every child we support is unique, and so is the care we give. Are you, or could you be a caring, patient, and supportive Residential Support Worker, ready to help change children’s lives for the better? If so, you’ll be providing the very best care for our young people with learning disabilities, who are verbal/non-verbal and have associated medical needs. We will give you full training to be able to do your job and excel as a valued part of our business as well as providing a clear and tailored career pathway. We put our children at the centre of every decision, so you’ll share our values of Respect, Dignity, Equality, Compassion and Commitment. If you are passionate about delivering outstanding outcomes for young people with learning disabilities, and want to have a lasting impact, this role offers the opportunity to truly shine.

What You’ll do:

  • Always act in accordance with statutory safeguarding guidance, including Working Together to Safeguard Children and Keeping Children Safe in Education.
  • Identify and respond to signs of distress, abuse, neglect or harm, and report concerns in line with the home’s safeguarding procedures.
  • Build trusting relationships with children that are underpinned by clear boundaries and a strong safeguarding ethos.
  • Ensuring that each young person’s care plan is followed and amended as appropriate to reflect their changing needs.
  • Attending to practical matters in relation to childcare (meal preparation, cleaning, general maintenance around the home, keeping the home safe and secure, etc.).
  • Provide support for young people in their education and extracurricular activities, this may include supporting them in the classroom if necessary.
  • Empower young people and facilitate their active involvement in the decision making about their lives and future.
  • Willing to give and receive feedback on performance to/from colleagues and managers.

What you’ll bring:

We’re looking for an individual with heart, resilience and unwavering commitment to quality and the best possible outcomes for our children.

What You’ll need:

  • Ideally a level 3 or 4 diploma in Residential Care but it isn’t essential as we will fully fund this qualification – it is a requirement to be attained within 2 years.
  • A desire to help others and a genuine reason why you think you can provide outstanding care and support.
  • If you have experience of supporting young people with learning disabilities that would be great – but this may be a whole new career for you so don’t worry if you haven’t.
  • Philosophy that only the best is good enough when it comes to the children in our care.
  • Perhaps you’ll have experience in a children’s educational setting, have family members with needs, a background helping and supporting others or a deep sense of wanting to.
  • A driving license is heavily preferred, but if you don’t have one, don’t let that put you off from applying.
  • The role is also subject to an enhanced DBS check.
