UNIQLO UMC Graduate Programme: Step into the future of retail leadership with LifeWear.

At UNIQLO, we believe clothing should make life better, simple, high-quality, functional, and built to last. That’s the heart of our LifeWear philosophy.

The UNIQLO Management Candidate (UMC) Programme is your opportunity to bring that vision to life in business. Over 12 transformative months, you’ll lead with purpose, taking real responsibility from day one. You’ll gain deep business insight, master operational excellence, and evolve with courage as you grow into a leader.

At every step, you’ll feel your impact — on your team, your customers, and the future of one of the world’s most dynamic global retailers. This programme is designed for those who thrive on constant growth and challenge, so be ready for an incredibly fast pace and a steep learning curve.

Programme Structure

Months 1-4: Mastering the Foundations

Your journey begins as a sales associate on the shop floor. You’ll learn the core of what makes UNIQLO unique—customer focus, attention to detail, and efficiency.

  • Customer service & fitting rooms
  • Deliveries & replenishment
  • Checkout & omni-channel services

Leadership starts by understanding the details and owning them. Be prepared to be active and immerse yourself in real-time operations; much of your learning will happen directly on the shop floor rather than in an office setting.

Months 5–6: Step forward. Take the lead

Now it’s your turn to guide others. As a supervisor, you’ll begin leading daily operations while training colleagues and owning sales performance.

  • Daily scheduling & team coordination
  • Training & working alongside newer team members
  • Ownership of a key product category

A key challenge at this stage is developing strong soft skills in people management and building trust across a diverse team. Resilience and analytical skills are key to thrive in this high-energy environment.

Months 7–12: Driving the Business

Think bigger. In your final stage, you’ll take on broad operational responsibility alongside your Store Manager.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Sales floor layout & optimization
  • Staff development & training plans
  • Store audits & maintaining brand standards
  • Weekly scheduling based on sales projections
  • Monitoring sales KPIs and managing inventory

From team leader to business driver — this is where your leadership comes to life. You’ll be exposed to handling crises and people’s needs. It requires discipline and problem-solving to navigate complex situations and provide a high customer experience. This rotation might require relocating to a different city if it is considered beneficial for your development.

During your 12 months of training, you will receive career planning mentoring, engage in business workshops with your COO, and will be invited to attend our European leadership convention. This exposure will help set the foundation for your future success.

What You Will Gain during the 12 months of training

By the end of the UMC Programme, you’ll emerge with a unique and powerful mix of business, operational, and human leadership skills. Our graduates consistently highlight the immense value of developing strong communication skills, a customer-centric mindset, commercial acumen, and endurance. This is more than retail — it’s an immersive leadership training where you’ll evolve with courage and feel your impact every day.

What we offer

  • Competitive compensation package (salary, guaranteed bonus, group profit sharing)
  • Full-time permanent contract
  • Relocation support will be provided if we request you to move for your third rotation
  • 30% Staff discount across all Fast Retailing brands
  • Volunteer days – twice a year
  • Opportunity to attend UNIQLO Europe leadership conventions
  • Seasonal clothing allowance
  • We have positions in London, the Midlands, North England, and Scotland.

Who we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s graduates with permanent work authorisation in the UK
  • Or if you hold a student/graduate visa, this needs to be valid until at least March 2028
  • Ready to start full-time from September 2026
  • Proficient in English B2 level minimum
  • Flexible to work weekends, bank holidays, and various shifts
  • Willing to relocate within the UK as required
  • Are you ready to lead with purpose? Apply now and start building the future of LifeWear — and your own future as a business leader.

London, England, United Kingdom – this role may require relocation and travel as part of the development plan.
