We are currently recruiting for a Womenswear Junior Merchandiser to sit within the EU Merchandising Planning team, based in our London office. You will be reporting directly into the Head of Merchandising for Womenswear, working across functions and at a European level. This is an opportunity for someone looking to own your own product categories within a womenswear department. This is a permanent full-time position and as our Womenswear Junior Merchandiser, you will have the opportunity to develop and implement the commercial strategy for our womenswear collection.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing your division buying plan and providing information to ensure consistent management of product
  • Identifying and interpreting market trends through market research, whilst remaining aware of the activities of our primary competitors
  • Establishing best practices to feedback and recommend products for the European market with Global Merchandising and Product Development teams in Tokyo
  • Reviewing the weekly sales figures, completing analysis and actioning to continually update forward buying forecasts
  • Identifying trends which represent opportunities or risks to profit
  • Agreeing on divisional budgets, seasonal pricing proposals, markdowns and promotional strategies in conjunction with stores and other merchandisers to achieve profit targets
  • Coordinating timing on range assortments and delivery with Global Merchandising
  • Regularly reviewing the delivery schedule forecasts and the actual intake of merchandise with the Production and Logistics Departments, anticipating and/or identifying potential problems and taking remedial action to resolve issues
  • Managing the optimisation of store stocks in line with sales performance to improve company profitability and maximise product availability
  • Coordinating activities between all markets on layout plans and zoning to deliver the best layout in a timely manner for European stores
  • Establishing close contact with stores in order to assess the impact of the range and address opportunities, follow through with in-Store Merchandising and Marketing teams if required
  • Following and revising the merchandise planning calendar to ensure all deadlines are met
  • Support the development of the critical path

What we are looking for:

  • Category management experience in a fashion merchandising role, preferably womenswear
  • Understanding and ability to apply merchandising principles and practices
  • You will have a good understanding of store operations and supply chain processes
  • High attention to detail and a hands-on approach
  • Commercially savvy in order to manage business performance
  • Computer literate with expert knowledge of Excel
  • Team player who effectively collaborates across functions
  • Ability to prioritise own workload to deliver to tight deadlines
  • Proactive and can easily adapt to change
