The RolePharmaceutical BuyerHybridLocation: Hayes/DerbyThis role requires to travel between our Hayes and Derby sites on regular basis.We are looking for a Pharmaceutical Buyer to support the Headof Procurement, in delivering a best in class Procurement function and strategy, driving continuous growth and development for theUniphar Global Sourcingbusiness.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop global relationships directly with manufacturers, selling the overall ethos of the Uniphar Group, and the Global Sourcing businessEngagement with key internal stakeholders, Sales, Operations, Quality, Finance, HRMonthly monitoring and management of competitor commercial activities & offerings outside of On-Demand global channels to include appropriate response and communicationsOwnership of the supply chain relationships, understand the constraints and coordinate activities to ensure all resources are exercised and escalated if any supply gaps existPresent and deliver key initiatives updates on a weekly/monthly basis to OD Head of Procurement teamInvestigate and support the Procurement strategy for Generics, Prescriptions medicines, Medical devices, OTCs for each of the following regions: European & UK partnerships American/Canadian partnerships MENA partnerships Australasia partnerships LATAC & African partnershipsHelp shape the On-Demand procurement strategy UKsupport in the on-boarding of new distribution agreements, and shape the UK strategy and streamline the procurement functioni.e. Supplier analysis, Supplier development, preferred vendor management, etcUKdevelop a best-in-class portfolio of products and suppliers, with exclusive arrangements where possible, maintaining a product portfolio with up to date pricing and availabilityROWdevelop a robust supplier portfolio and access to stock from global markets in key countries such as the US/Canada/EU and AsiaDevelop a close working relationship with Sales colleagues with the aim of growing the OD businessQualification, Experience & Skills Required3 years minimum buying experience in the pharmaceutical industry.Desirable unlicensed medicine buying experience.Proven track record in achieving targets, in a wholesale, retail or NHS Hospital environment.Solid understanding of the NHS and Hospital Pharmacy.Extensive experience in all aspects of relationship management.Experience in incorporating a financial and strategic perspective to procurement policies.Proven analytical skills combined with excellent commercial acumen are essential.High levels of resilience and tenacity.Equally comfortable working alone or as part of a team.Flexible, innovative approach to work.Excellent communication skills – ability to communicate at all business levels, including customer/supplier conferencesAbility to work well under pressure and to work to targets.Good time management and planning skills.Excellent Excel,Powerpoint skillsand a keen eye for detailKnowledge of CRM systems an advantage.Competencies:Communicates in a professional manner and effectively manages manufacturer relationshipsWorks well within a team, flexible and willing to shareDemonstrate ambition and initiative in their workOpen to change in a fast moving industry and to new learningBe orientated to achievement of team budgetBe supportive of colleagues in a team environmentShould adhere to the service values of Uniphar Retail ServicesExcellent communications skills including verbal, written and presentationAbility to learn new business processes and operationalise training provided on new IT applications.Its important to achieve the right balance between face-to-face interactions with virtual working over the longterm.
