About the Role

We are looking for a Procurement Manager to join our team, with main focus on our Information and Digital category areas. You will manage a defined portfolio of spend, developing and implementing procurement strategies to deliver best value contracts and continuous improvement solutions that contribute to the University’s Procurement Strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead procurement activity across the University’s Information and Digital spend portfolio, including software licensing, IT hardware, digital services, and technology infrastructure.
  • Engage with IT, Digital and academic stakeholders to understand requirements and translate these into effective procurement strategies.
  • Navigate complex licensing, SaaS, and cloud procurement arrangements, managing associated contractual and commercial risks.
  • Support compliance with data protection, cyber security, and other regulatory requirements embedded within technology contracts.
  • Leverage national and sector frameworks (e.g. JISC, Crown Commercial Service, Educause) to deliver value for money.
  • Stay abreast of fast-moving technology markets to ensure the University benefits from innovative and competitive supply chain solutions.

Qualifications

  • Be educated to degree level or hold equivalent professional experience, with a good standard of numeracy and literacy.
  • Have demonstrable experience within a procurement environment, with a proven record of delivering procurement strategies and realising savings.
  • Demonstrate strong category and supply chain management knowledge across dedicated spend areas.
  • Be a capable negotiator with solid contract management experience and an understanding of commercial and legal risk.
  • Possess excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships across a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Be confident in data analysis, using P2P and corporate systems to support strategy formulation.
  • Ideally hold full MCIPS (Level 6) or be working towards this, or hold relevant equivalent experience.
  • Have a working knowledge of public sector procurement regulations (Public Contracts Regulations, Procurement Act 2023 / Procurement Regulations 2024) – desirable.
  • Have experience or a keen interest in technology / Information and Digital category procurement, including software, IT services, SaaS, or digital infrastructure.
  • Understand the unique commercial and contractual challenges associated with technology procurement, such as licensing, data processing, and cyber security obligations.
