An opportunity has arisen for a Graduate Materials Engineer in the Materials & Structural Analysis Team within the Integrity and Quality Management Department starting in September 2025. In this role you will be responsible for providing materials engineering support both to Uniper's power generation assets and the wider business, including failure investigations, technical support, power plant component examination and R&D. This role will offer you the opportunity to develop and work on a diverse range of technical issues alongside knowledgeable and experienced engineers. You will be fully involved in supporting our existing assets and preparing for delivery and integration of the low carbon energy sector of the future. Uniper is committed to developing our graduates, and you will receive both on the job and formal training, while working towards your Chartership.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Working with experienced engineers from the Materials and Structural Analysis Team on topics such as failure investigations of power plant components including high temperature high pressure vessels and piping, gas and steam turbines, wind turbines, etc. to determine root cause.
  • Development of corrective actions and preventative measures to mitigate future failures.
  • Provision of advice on all aspects of materials, coatings, corrosion and, where appropriate, integrity/defect assessment.
  • R&D including life extension of materials in existing power plants, advanced materials for new and next generation power plant including decarbonisation technologies.
  • Delivery of accurate, detailed, and concise technical reports.

You will have the opportunity to provide remote and on-site support to the wider Uniper international assets including those in Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden. You will be required to travel to various off-site locations within the UK and possibly Europe.

Your profile should include:

  • A degree (minimum 2:2), masters and/or PhD in Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy or Corrosion Science.
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly in a team orientated environment to ensure delivery of projects to cost, quality and timescale.
  • Willingness to travel and a full UK driving licence.
