Production Manager in Newcastle upon Tyne

Hours: Full time

Salary: Circa £55,000

About the Role

Serck specialises in the design, manufacture, installation, servicing and global export of heat transfer technology across multiple sectors and regions. Our capabilities include industrial and marine heat exchangers, climate control and heat recovery products, efficiency coatings, and specialist heavy-duty, high-performance and heritage automotive radiators, and we are trusted by clients worldwide including F1 teams, national utilities, petrochemical producers, and military, marine and rail organisations.

As Production Manager you will provide direction and supervision to our production teams, delivering output on time and in line with targets and production schedules. You will develop high levels of performance and customer satisfaction by applying Unipart Way tools and techniques, effective teamwork and continuous improvement, co-ordinating activities so that products are delivered right first time, fully compliant with customer and legislative requirements, to the highest quality standards and using efficient processes.

As part of your key responsibilities, you'll:

• Health and Safety - Maintain the highest standards of health, safety and housekeeping in line with legislation, quality requirements and good working practices, taking an active role in safety audits and resolving issues or escalating corrective actions to senior management where required.
• Incident Management and Risk - Oversee accident reporting and investigations, identify proactive solutions to reduce incident levels, ensure regular risk assessments are completed and archived correctly, and report all incidents, hazards and near misses while challenging unsafe acts or behaviours.
• Quality - Ensure quality standards are maintained across the production area and that all staff comply with company quality policies and procedures, identifying and investigating quality issues with the production and quality teams and ensuring appropriate containment and resolution actions are completed.
• Customer Response - Respond to customer issues with thorough investigations and present your findings as required.
• Cost Control - Understand and manage production costs including overtime within agreed budget limits, manage time and attendance including sickness and absence in line with company procedures, and use labour hours and materials effectively to achieve production budgets.
• Performance Reporting - Understand business KPIs and communicate them regularly to production teams to support compliance and performance.
• Delivery - Manage, motivate and lead the production team to achieve or exceed productivity targets, ensuring the team understands those targets, their importance and the impact of non-achievement.
• Production Planning - Take a proactive approach to production planning, keeping the production area flexible enough to meet customer and budget requirements, and work closely with quality, sales, projects and customers to deliver agreed KPIs.
• People Development - Build effective cross-functional working relationships within the team and across the wider business, hold regular meetings with team members to discuss performance expectations, standards and attendance, and deliver communication briefings to keep teams informed about company and local matters.
• People Management - Manage return-to-work interviews, training and development plans, and disciplinary and grievance procedures with support from Human Resources and senior management, while actively developing your own knowledge, skills and experience.
