Purpose:
Provide direction and supervision to production teams to deliver output on time, in line with targets and production schedules. Develop high levels of performance and customer satisfaction by applying Unipart Way tools and techniques, effective teamwork and continuous improvement. Co-ordinate activities to ensure products are delivered right first time, fully compliant with customer and legislative requirements, to the highest quality standards and using efficient processes.
About the Role:
Health & Safety
- Maintain the highest standards of health, safety and housekeeping in line with legislation, quality requirements and good working practices.
- Take an active role in safety audits, resolving issues where possible and escalating or recommending corrective actions to senior management when required.
- Oversee accident reporting and investigations, identifying proactive solutions to reduce incident levels.
- Support safety initiatives and lead the team in meeting or exceeding health and safety targets.
- Ensure regular risk assessments are completed and archived correctly.
- Follow all safety, health and environmental procedures and challenge unsafe acts or behaviours.
- Report all incidents, hazards and near misses to help minimise or eliminate the risk of further incidents.
Quality
- Ensure quality standards are maintained across the production area.
- Ensure all staff comply with company quality policies and procedures.
- Identify and investigate quality issues with the production and quality teams, ensuring appropriate containment and resolution actions are completed.
- Respond to customer issues with thorough investigations and present findings as required.
Cost
- Understand and manage production costs including overtime within agreed budget limits.
- Manage time and attendance, including sickness and absence, in line with company procedures.
- Use resources, including labour hours and materials, effectively to achieve production budgets.
- Understand business KPIs and communicate them regularly to production teams to support compliance and performance.
Delivery
- Manage, motivate and lead the production team to achieve or exceed productivity targets.
- Ensure the production team understands targets, their importance and the impact of non-achievement.
- Take a proactive approach to production planning, ensuring the production area remains flexible to meet customer and budget requirements.
- Work closely with quality, sales, projects and customers to deliver agreed KPIs.
People Development
- Build effective cross-functional working relationships within the team and across the wider business.
- Hold regular meetings with team members to discuss performance expectations, standards and attendance.
- Deliver communication briefings to keep teams informed about company and local matters.
- Manage return-to-work interviews, training and development plans, and disciplinary and grievance procedures with support from Human Resources and senior management.
- Actively develop your own knowledge, skills and experience to strengthen your contribution to the production team and wider company success.
