Instrumentel is a world-leading provider of asset monitoring solutions for precision measurement in extreme environments. Our solutions include Condition-Based Predictive Maintenance, Condition Monitoring of remote assets and predictive analytics to improve asset performance. We are now recruiting for an Embedded Software (Firmware) Engineer to join our busy team in Leeds. The main purpose of the role is to design and develop firmware for testing and for end products, as well as the design and development of software and hardware for both internal and external use.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of technical documents for reviews by the project tech lead.
  • Preparation of project documents, providing accurate time estimates on projects and product costings for the product manager.
  • Create design documentation for firmware design (flow diagrams).
  • Writing of well commented code for use on IC’s implemented on products.
  • Writing of well commented code for use as unit, white box and black box tests.
  • Code review other members of the team.
  • Version Control and release code.
  • Management of incoming data to our server.
  • Participation in weekly/daily team technical meetings.
  • Support customers with technical requests as guided by the project or engineering manager.

Essential skills

  • Knowledge of C Programming language.
  • Knowledge of Linux RTOS experience.
  • Knowledge/experience of Agile Development process and version control.
