UML is a leading shipowner headquartered in London with a fleet of more than 70 vessels on the water currently covering both tankers and dry. UML offices span three continents with a significant customer base that continues to grow with their fleet of modern, economical vessels.
We are looking for a dynamic commercial lead for Atlantas, to work with management on developing and executing on commercial opportunities, including most notably the expansion of technical management services (with ambition to take on a large third party fleet) and the development of the new training business (with academy sites under construction and curriculum under development).
The role requires an experienced commercial lead, who is likely to have a background in business development, strategy, structuring, or similar areas. Candidates should have knowledge of shipping and, ideally, technical matters, but it is a commercial role rather than technical role.
Key Responsibilities:- Fleet management: Leading strategy, business planning, and execution.
- Training: Leading strategy, business planning, and execution.
- Opportunities: Identifying, promoting, and executing on new commercial opportunities.
- Contract Negotiation and Management: Negotiating and managing contracts for business sustenance and growth.
- Collaboration: Working with internal departments (e.g., technical, operations, finance) to support business development efforts.
- Reporting and Forecasting: Tracking key performance indicators, generating reports, and forecasting revenue.
- Business planning: Exceptional commercial planning and structuring skills.
- Process management: Exceptional organisational and execution abilities.
- Communication: Ability to build rapport with clients and stakeholders.
- Marketing and negotiation: Ability to prepare annual budgets, business cases, present and sell the company's services, negotiate contracts, commercial lead follow-ups.
