We are actively seeking an engaging and passionate HSE Manager who will take total responsibility for all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) matters relating to the site. This involves maintaining and developing Unilin ISO 9001, 14001 & ISO 45001 management system, ensuring compliance to Unilin EPA license and managing the in-house Health and Safety systems. To provide Environmental, health and safety support and advice to management and employees. To actively promote a culture of EH+S and eliminate loss in the areas of injury, illness, material damage.
Permanent Role
Reporting To: Factory Manager, based on site Monday to Friday
Key Attributes:
- NEBOSH Certificate/ Diploma required
- Bachelor’s degree in health & safety or a related field desirable
- 2+ years’ experience in a similar position within manufacturing industry
- Knowledge of Environmental, Health & Safety legislation and UK regulations
- Good working knowledge of COMAH regulations
- Working knowledge of Windows IT based applications
- Good communicational skills, self-motivated with an ability to multitask
- Good organisational and administrative skills
Key Tasks and Duties:
- Good experience of Chemical Management with a strong working knowledge of COMAH, DSEAR and ATEX processes
- Good experience of Contractor Management, Emergency Preparedness and Risk assessment process
- Strong in Legal and Regulatory knowledge
- Responsible for implementing and supporting the H&S management system
- Conduct on-site Risk Assessments and review current risk assessments
- Responsible for managing, coaching, and developing the reporting EHS Officer, ensuring they have the tools and guidance necessary to perform their role effectively
- Develop, implement and update health and safety policies & procedures
- Design, Plan, conduct and/or co-ordinate appropriate health and safety training programs (manual handling, first aid etc)
- Carry out induction training on new employees, and employees returning to work following a prolonged absence. Maintain a comprehensive training record on each employee
- Ensure H&S legislative compliance. Educate and coach managers and employees on how they can best improve the safety performance of their teams
- Update the Company Safety Statement from time to time as required by changing circumstances or legislation
- Report any accident or incident to the as required by law, and also as required by the company insurers
- Maintenance of Safety statement and member of Safety Committee
- H&S Training re: H&S Induction, Chemical awareness
- Maintain database re: chemicals & PPE
- Maintenance of Fire Safety Register
- Environmental compliance ensure compliance with waste management permit regulations 2001
- Environmental monitoring and reporting
- Preparation of all environmental reports for the EA and local authorities, liaison with government bodies on an ongoing basis
- Managing waste movements in and out of facility and ensuring waste movements are in compliance with government regulations
- Liaison with operations on a daily basis to ensure site compliance
- Site assessments, internal auditing, keeping daily/weekly records
- Work within the ethos and standards of the company
- Undertake any other tasks appropriate to the position, as requested by management
- Undertake flexible working hours to meet deadlines
