JOB PURPOSE

The Deodorants category is a key part of the Unilever Personal Care Business Group. With a family of Power Brands - Rexona, Dove, Axe - which are critical growth drivers of the company. Packaging design plays a prominent role in innovation plans, and is a key capability to drive competitive advantage and value improvement opportunities through the development of category-leading desirable packaging. This role involves working in teams to develop new aerosol packaging for our Power Brands. A packaging developer will partner with all key functional leads to deliver superior, sustainable, and affordable packaging solutions that delivers the best shopper & consumer experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support packaging development from Brief through to Proving Manufacture at Scale.
  • Deliver packaging which not only meets the required quality and technical standards, but also delights the consumer and builds brand love, through using Unilever's Packaging Excellence best practices.
  • Liaise with packaging convertors and material suppliers in the development of packaging components.
  • To test and validate and create the technical specification of packaging components.
  • To support measurement & testing in the laboratory whilst following safe working practices.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • We are looking for people with an ambitious mindset and excellent competencies: Inquisitive, passionate and disruptive thinkers to join us in the creation and development of more innovative and sustainable packaging.
  • Technical education - in an engineering, science or design subject, OR relevant supply chain technical experience.
  • Working knowledge of a range of packaging materials and technologies (i.e. rigid plastics, aluminium, steel).
  • Experience in measurement testing equipment and techniques and/or specifications, technical drawings.
  • Experience of packaging development, FMCG industry experience is preferable.
  • An excellent communicator in a collaborative environment.
  • Knowledge or experience of working with Aerosols is preferable.
  • A passion for digital and using technology to develop better solutions faster.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Driving licence preferred.
  • Some UK and overseas travel may be required.
