Location: Port Sunlight Research Lab (with occasional time at the Materials Innovation Factory, University of Liverpool). The role requires very infrequent travel (global UL sites, conferences).
JOB PURPOSE

Role Overview
The Whitening Platform Leader will be responsible for identifying and developing innovative whitening technology solutions supported by laboratory measures and clinical research.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify and deliver the medium to long-term whitening technology funnel to meet future business and consumer needs.
- Lead long-term technology innovation projects for whitening end benefits.
- Collaborate with cross-functional R&D teams to identify and implement innovative whitening and oral appearance measurements.
- Identify external partners, including academic groups and suppliers to deliver innovative tooth whitening products.
- Develop personal and team expertise in disciplines related to oral whitening products, such as tribology, appearance measures and formulation.
- Monitor and analyse the academic and competitive landscape.
- Prepare and present project updates, reports, and technology recommendations to stakeholders.
- Maintain a pipeline of competitive intellectual property.

Qualifications
- PhD in Chemistry or a related science discipline.
- Expertise in hard tissue science, appearance measurement and/or tribology in an FMGC environment.
- Experience in development of Oral Care consumer products is highly desirable.
- Experience of successful partnerships with academic groups and material suppliers in delivering consumer products.
- Effective communication skills, able to communicate science and technology concepts to R&D and marketing teams.
- Effective collaboration skills in cross-functional and global teams.
- Project management skills, focusing on accountability, risk management, and timely delivery.
- Awareness of IP principles.
- Experience in use of experimental design and statistics.
- Understanding of clinical trial design principles is desirable.
