Overview

Global Cyber Security OT Technical Authority (TA1) – Port Sunlight Office

We are seeking a Global Cyber Security OT Technical Authority (TA1) to join our Global Business Operations Cyber Security team. This role supports the Supply Chain by securing our automation estate and advancing cyber security across Unilever’s global manufacturing, R&D, and warehousing operations. The Technical Authority Lead guides and supports the wider TA structure across regional cluster teams and reports to the Director of OT & IoT Security Engineering (TA0).

Job purpose
As a key member of the Cyber Security Engagement & Engineering team, you will be responsible for OT cyber security across sites including automation and control systems, safety systems, engineering IT assets, and both IT and engineering networks within factories, R&D, and some warehousing locations. You will lead ongoing cyber security operational programs, maintain OT security, and support sites with digital factory and Industry 4.0 initiatives. Projects span safety, quality, cost efficiency, capacity, innovation, and infrastructure—primarily within Automation & Control (A&C) for batch, continuous, and packaging systems.

Responsibilities

  • Relationship building with ISLs, senior management stakeholders and SLT.
  • Presentations to senior management stakeholders and SLT.
  • Proactive management and delivery of OT security programmes and projects, ensuring:
    • Solutions and services meet requirements.
    • Scoping and production of deliverables.
    • Project and financial management.
    • Quality and risk review of team deliverables.
    • Stakeholder liaison on delivery and implementation issues.
    • Identifying cyber improvement opportunities.
  • Developing relationships with colleagues across the business.
  • Monitor and uphold high quality of service.
  • Communicate with impact, openly and clearly.
  • Deliver an agreed portfolio of projects under the leadership of the relevant Supply Chain and/or Information Security Leads.
  • Ensure professional project execution with strong stakeholder engagement and multi-level communication.
  • Support feasibility of capex projects with Quality, Safety, Manufacturing, Marketing, R&D and plant personnel to clarify brief, scope, costs, and timelines.
  • Collaborate with internal Information Security, IT, Engineering teams and 3rd parties on feasibility studies, project plans, impact analyses, etc., to meet business objectives.
  • Participate in factory OT governance activities.
  • Develop and manage Project Execution Plans and schedules.
  • Execute projects ensuring adherence to schedule and budget; manage security solution deployments, contractors, and OEMs in line with Unilever Security and Safety Standards.
  • Assist factory with non-capital improvements to enhance line or infrastructure efficiencies.
  • Support complex control-related cyber troubleshooting.
  • Work with stakeholders to improve OT security skills within the factory workforce.

All About You

  • Experience delivering OT security in an A&C environment within a global manufacturing organization.
  • Demonstrable experience with cyber security issues facing manufacturing and risk management related to ICS/OT.
  • Strong understanding of legacy A&C concepts and technology, digital OT, and Industry 4.0 tech in networks and integration with business information systems.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, relationship-building and influencing skills; ability to lead teams with internal and external resources.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to deliver projects to Unilever engineering standards.
  • Provide technical SME leadership for OT cyber security design, installation, configuration and management; drive improvements to standards with coordination from Unilever Engineering and other factories; direct implementation of such solutions.

Typically 5 to 10 years of related experience. Strong Programme and Project Management, Cyber Security, Process Management, Contract Management & Conflict Resolution, and Budget Management skills. Proficiency in MS Office. Knowledge of A&C systems, data networks and end-to-end cyber controls. Travel approximately 10%.

People and Programme Management

  • Ability to lead under high intensity, inspiring drive and resilience.
  • Experience in a global manufacturing organization.
  • Problem analysis, solution recommendation, and action following progress reviews.
  • Extensive OT Security management experience; ability to influence senior executives up to board level.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, negotiation, and project management skills.

ICS/OT Technology

A strong background in controls, industrial computing, OT, and data networking/telemetry infrastructure is essential.

  • Chartered Engineer; Bachelor\’s degree in Electronic Engineering or Computer Science or related.
  • Recognised information protection qualifications (e.g., M.Inst IISP or equivalent).
  • Experience in Security management of ICS/OT systems (Process control, SCADA, DCS, PLCs/RTUs, Industrial cybersecurity, IoT/IIoT).
  • Security risk management and architecture experience; strong understanding of ICS/OT security in manufacturing (preferably food, home care, or personal care).
  • Knowledge of security standards (ISO 27001, NERC CIP, ISA99/IEC 62443, CPNI/NCSC Security for ICS, NIST 800-82).
  • Fluent in English.

Preferred: Based in UK office but able to work in core times from other regions.
