We hold leading category positions in deodorants and skin cleansing globally and the or position in oral care in the countries where we are present. We have a clear strategy: (1) Asserting our Leadership to Win Big, (2) Disaggregating to Win Locally and (3) Simplifying to Win Profitably. The Personal Care UK/EU/ANZ Business Unit is a strategic priority for Unilever and Personal Care, having a transformational role in delivering top and bottom-line growth.
Job purpose
This role leads formulation and the overall innovation programme for Deo R&D in Europe. This means execution of the new formulation technologies and innovations for the market leading brands of Dove, Axe and Rexona to deliver growth through big impactful launches.
We are looking for someone who has a passion for technology and can bring innovation functional excellence, which is a key success factor for the PC Eu organisation. The role will work in partnership with the brand teams and global R&D to build and drive a technology and innovation funnel to meet the Deo Eu growth ambition. And partner with SC, quality, procurement and 3PMs to deliver innovation and ensure business continuity.
It requires the ability to think strategically, to connect business strategy and consumer insights,and turn that into superior products to deliver high quality innovations to market.
Responsibilities
- Ensure excellent execution of the formulation elements of the Deo Eu programme (Innovation, sustainability, 5S, complexity, portfolio management, resilience)
- Defining and leading the longer term technology strategy in close partnership with the global R&D team and brand teams for PC Europe.
- Ensuring innovation funnel aligns to our technology strategy and delivers a Future Fit Portfolio for PC Europe.
- Working with the brand teams to define innovations and manage the execution of the programme through the Deo Eu TPLs. The role may or may not TPL projects depending on the programme.
- Working closely with the innovation community in PC R&D Eu to ensure strong functional excellence applied into the Deo programme.
- Ensure we have freedom to operate in our markets in terms of regulation, Unilever commitments on materials, and meeting the needs of our customers and NGOs.

- Entrepreneurial spirit, able to translate a vision and technical details into clear plans. The confidence to clearly articulate a vision and make it a reality.
- Comfortable leading and delivering a large programme with multiple stakeholders
- Strong team leader with a passion for helping others develop to their true potential and unlock purpose in their daily delivery
Experience
- Experienced Technical Project leader in either a global or BU setting
- Strong formulation background
- Experience of landing products in market ensuring full compliance with regulatory and legal requirements
