Are you an experienced finance leader ready to make a significant impact? Liberty Group seeks a Group Financial Controller to take charge of our finance, payroll, and processing functions, leading a team of 25 professionals. This is a pivotal role where you'll ensure robust financial governance, accurate reporting and drive strategic improvements across the group.
Your Role
- Lead the group finance, payroll, and processing teams, fostering a culture of excellence and compliance
- Oversee monthly financial close processes, ensuring accurate consolidated balance sheets and management accounts
- Govern balance sheet reconciliations and maintain strong valuation processes for all accounts
- Harmonise accounting policies across Liberty Group and align with Wates Property Services
- Manage intercompany consolidation, annual audits, and statutory accounts production
- Ensure compliance with all business taxes (VAT, CIS, IR35, PAYE, etc.) and make key tax-related decisions
- Oversee payroll and processing functions for timely and accurate operations
- Drive key business improvement projects, including system implementations and transitions
- Manage treasury functions and support transaction-related projects
What We Need From You
- Qualified ICAEW or ACCA Accountant with at least 8 years post‑qualification experience
- Proven track record of leading sizeable finance teams
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards, tax compliance, and financial controls
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting software
- Exceptional decision‑making abilities and a proactive approach to problem solving
