LSE Extended Education is a highly successful and commercially focused division which delivers a range of successful programmes, including the Summer School and Transnational Education (TNE) via our Global Programmes to diverse global audiences, bringing combined revenues of £45m to the School. With nearly 10,000 students in nearly 40 countries studying LSE-designed degrees, we’ve built a proud history of opening up access to world-class education. We’re embarking on a major transformation programme that will reshape the future of LSE’s distance learning and online degree provision. This is a chance to get involved at the ground level of something ambitious, innovative, and full of potential.
The Learning Technologist will support the Global Programmes initiative, playing a key role in the delivery of learning experiences across both online and locally taught programmes. Although their initial remit will focus on the programmes in their current form, they will have significant opportunity to contribute to their exciting future as well, participating in the design and implementation of the platform ecosystem, approaches, and design principles that underpin our degree programmes. This is a rare opportunity to be involved in a new venture from the ground up.
In particular, the post holder will focus on:
- Maintaining our two VLEs (Moodle and Canvas) and related learning platforms.
- Setting up programme and course areas ensuring consistency, accessibility and accuracy.
- Uploading and maintaining course materials, activities, and announcements.
- Liaising with key internal and external stakeholders to manage and coordinate module build, ensuring timelines and deadlines are communicated clearly.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Demonstrable experience supporting VLEs (e.g. Moodle, Canvas, etc) within a higher education context.
- Experience developing high quality online learning resources.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Strong organisational/project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records.

Please note this role is office-based three days a week with two days a week from home, except during peak periods (e.g. exam sessions) when it is office-based four days a week, with one day a week working from home (approx. 13 weeks in the year).
