OVERVIEW Nottingham Trent University is recruiting an Executive Director of Communications, Alumni Relations, Marketing and Student Recruitment to provide strategic leadership across a major institutional portfolio. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and Registrar, the director will oversee communications, alumni relations, marketing, philanthropy, admissions, and student recruitment activity across domestic and international markets. The role focuses on strengthening the university’s institutional profile, supporting recruitment performance, and building engagement across academic and professional communities. The successful candidate will lead an award-winning team and help shape how the university communicates with prospective student audiences, alumni networks, partners, and wider communities.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership across communications, alumni relations, marketing and student recruitment functions
- Lead domestic and international student recruitment and admissions activity
- Oversee brand and marketing strategy for the university
- Direct communications and media engagement activity
- Support alumni relations and philanthropy initiatives
- Lead and inspire a multidisciplinary professional team
- Use data and insight to identify opportunities and strengthen recruitment conversion
- Define and communicate a distinctive institutional story to global audiences
- Harness digital technologies and AI to support institutional objectives
- Build productive relationships across academic and professional services communities

Requirements
- Significant experience leading complex and multidisciplinary services
- Demonstrated ability to deliver innovation, growth and service excellence
- Strong understanding of domestic and international student recruitment markets
- Experience using data and insight to support strategic decision-making
- Ability to identify opportunities and improve conversion performance
- Strong communications and leadership capabilities
