Overview
Unify HQ are recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading organisation delivering retrofit and construction projects across social housing, local authority frameworks and funded schemes. They are seeking a Health & Safety Support Officer (Junior) to provide day‑to‑day administrative and coordination support to the Health & Safety Coordinator. This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to build a long‑term career in health and safety within a regulated construction and retrofit environment. This role is primarily office‑based and focuses on documentation, compliance support, record keeping and communication with site and operational teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Health & Safety Administration
- Maintain accurate H&S records, registers and logs.
- Support the creation, issuing and tracking of H&S documentation.
- Provide daily administrative support to the H&S Coordinator.
- Documentation & Compliance
- Assist with RAMS, COSHH assessments, toolbox talks and related documentation.
- Ensure site paperwork is received, logged and stored correctly.
- Support document control in line with audit and compliance requirements.
- Training & Competency
- Maintain training and certification records for staff and subcontractors.
- Track expiry dates for CSCS cards, medicals and qualifications.
- Support scheduling of inductions and refresher training.
- Incident & Near‑Miss Reporting
- Log accidents, incidents and near misses accurately.
- Support follow‑up actions and escalate urgent issues where required.
- Communication & Coordination
- Act as a point of contact for basic H&S queries when the coordinator is on site.
- Liaise with site teams, project teams and office staff to gather information.
- Support internal communication of safety alerts and updates.
- General Support
- Assist with internal audits, inspections and reporting.
- Support continuous improvement of H&S processes and documentation.
- Carry out additional administrative tasks as required.
Skills & Experience
- Essential
- Experience in an administrative or support role.
- Strong organisation and attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Confident using Microsoft Office or similar systems.
- Some H&S experience or training (IOSH Working Safely, NEBOSH, or working towards).
- Desirable
- Experience in construction, retrofit or social housing.
- Familiarity with RAMS, COSHH or basic H&S documentation.
