£600-650 per day, Outside IR35

Initially until end of March (+ likely extensions)

Unify are proud to exclusively support a highly respected UK Consulting partner, who urgently requires the services of a Senior Technical Architect, to join a delivery team working on a high-profile Government project.

Work outline

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct a comprehensive audit of the current estate, covering licenses, roles, security configurations, and organisational silos.
  • Define the future-state architecture for centralizing GitHub management under the Chief Engineer’s office, including transition plans from the volunteer model.
  • Develop specific recommendations for branch protection strategies, secret management, and secure CI/CD pipelines.
  • Support the Lead TA in assessing specific capacities of integration platforms and technologies for the 'To Be' Engineering Tech Radar.
  • Assist in defining the technical requirements for the client's relationship with Microsoft/GitHub to ensure enterprise-level support and efficiency.

Skills and experience needed:

Essential skills

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Deep technical experience in managing and securing GitHub at an enterprise level (IAM, SSO, Organization structure).
  • Proven ability to conduct deep-dive technical assessments of large-scale software estates and translate findings into clear 'As Is' vs 'To Be' maps.
  • Expert knowledge of secret management, branch protection, and security best practices within GitHub and CI/CD environments.
  • Ability to develop formal technical recommendations that balance high security with developer productivity.
  • Must hold active SC Clearance to access sensitive security and system configurations from day one.

‘Nice to have’ skills:

  • Familiarity with Government technical environments and security policies.
  • Experience with AWS/Azure native security tools and how they integrate with GitHub.
  • Ability to liaise between the Senior BA and the Lead TA to ensure technical recommendations accommodate business and user needs.
