About the Role: Uniform Education is working with a specialist independent SEN school in Camberwell who are looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate Welfare Officer. This is a key role within the school, supporting the wellbeing, safeguarding and attendance of students across Key Stages 3 and 4. The school provides education for girls with complex social, emotional and attachment needs in a nurturing and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, supporting the overall safeguarding and child protection processes
- Monitor and promote excellent attendance, working closely with families to address barriers to learning
- Provide pastoral care and emotional support for students, ensuring their wellbeing is at the forefront of all school activity
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, staff and families to maintain a supportive and inclusive school culture
- Maintain accurate records in line with safeguarding and attendance policies
Person Specification:
- Previous experience in a pastoral, safeguarding or welfare role within education, social care or a related setting
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practice
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
- Empathetic, approachable and resilient when supporting young people with complex needs
- Confident working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
