Experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant - Hillingdon / Uxbridge

A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Hillingdon, Uxbridge is seeking an experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join their team. The role will primarily involve providing dedicated support to a pupil with additional needs, while also offering flexible classroom support across KS1 and KS2 when the pupil is absent.

The Role
- Provide consistent 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN within a mainstream classroom
- Support learning in line with the pupil’s EHCP or individual support plan
- Implement strategies to support communication, engagement, behaviour, and emotional regulation
- Adapt learning activities to meet the pupil’s individual needs
- Promote independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
- Provide general classroom support across KS1 and KS2 when the pupil is absent
- Work closely with class teachers, the SENCo, and external professionals
- Support the pupil’s social interaction and development
- Help maintain a calm, safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
About You
- Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a UK school setting
- A minimum Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning, Early Years, or equivalent, such as CACHE, NVQ, or Diploma
- Confidence working on a 1:1 basis and adapting to different classroom environments
- Experience using communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, AAC, or similar approaches
- A patient, calm, resilient, and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A reliable, flexible, and proactive attitude
- A genuine commitment to inclusive education and supporting children to reach their potential
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply through Uniform Education
