Experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant - Hillingdon / Uxbridge

Location: Hillingdon, Uxbridge, West London

Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Hillingdon, Uxbridge is seeking an experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join their team. The role will primarily involve providing dedicated support to a pupil with additional needs, while also offering flexible classroom support across KS1 and KS2 when the pupil is absent.

The Role

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN within a mainstream classroom
  • Support learning in line with the pupil’s EHCP or individual support plan
  • Implement strategies to support communication, engagement, behaviour, and emotional regulation
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the pupil’s individual needs
  • Promote independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
  • Provide general classroom support across KS1 and KS2 when the pupil is absent
  • Work closely with class teachers, the SENCo, and external professionals
  • Support the pupil’s social interaction and development
  • Help maintain a calm, safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment

About You

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a UK school setting
  • A minimum Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning, Early Years, or equivalent, such as CACHE, NVQ, or Diploma
  • Confidence working on a 1:1 basis and adapting to different classroom environments
  • Experience using communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, AAC, or similar approaches
  • A patient, calm, resilient, and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A reliable, flexible, and proactive attitude
  • A genuine commitment to inclusive education and supporting children to reach their potential
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply through Uniform Education
